No challenge - just sharing....

Hello fellow-bloggers... Kendall's boss has 2 kiddies, a girl and a boy and they are the cutest little munchkins ever... Bea (short for Beatrix) only wears PINK and refuses to wear BLUE because it is a "seuntjies kleur" (boy's colour).  She has a mind of her own that one... apparently even her room is PINK, you need to wear sunglasses when you enter it -oohhh boy!  Liam is a "boy's boy" and definitely not into PINK!   Well, because it's Easter weekend this weekend, she bought them some easter eggs and a gift each... Bea's is PINK (has to be, or else!!!) and a pretty green bag to place it in.  I thought it looked a bit bare and as I had 2 extra Magnolia images tucked away somewhere, quickly whipped them out and decorated an oval nestie to look like an easter egg.  Really, this was a quick job and not a work of art... so no criticism please...lol  Just wanted to share it with you all!!!  So be nice.  Yep, that bag is really bright, hope you're wearing your sunglasses.

I am laughing to myself as I'm posting this.  So nice to be able to laugh at the silly things in life hey!

Welcome to my new Followers... very pleased to have you on board and I'll be popping around to visit you soon.  Happy crafting everyone... tons of hugs Sharon x

Before I go, if you scroll down to just before my Guestbook, you'll notice a link to a MP3 song. It's my favourite song at the moment and I listen to it on the way to and from work as loud as I can.  The artist is Johnny Clegg and Sevuka. This song is called Asimbonanga (click for the lyrics). It's about Nelson Mandela when he was a prisoner on Robben Island.  There's a lot of African language in it and I hope it gives my overseas visitors an idea what that language sounds like.  Hope you like it!

Manly Card....

My Time to Craft's challenge this week for you to make a Manly card.  As you know, I like my girly cards (as do most of us...lol), but I managed to whip this card up in about 20 minutes.  I can't believe how easy and simple it was to do.

I first coloured my image in with Copics and then I looked for suitable paper to match and found this freebie paper from MME which I got today when I purchased the February issue of Cardmaking magazine.  I think the booklet is 6x6 filled with stunning MME design paper.  As it's a man's card, I didn't go overboard with embellishments, just stuck to a simple yellow ribbon and tag onto which I stamped the sentiment.  Two ticks and all done. I am really thrilled with this one and plan to duplicate it in a variety of colours.

Hope you've all had a good Monday, enjoy the rest of the week.  Thanks for visiting and leaving a message, I've really enjoyed reading them.  Hugs Sharon x

Whiff of Joy Challenge #72

My oh my, did I have FUN making this card for the Whiff of Joy challenge this week!  All you need to do is follow the lovely sketch by the very talented Bev Rochester. It's as easy as that.  I bought some new DP over the weekend from the Scrapbook Shop in Durbanville. Note to all the Cape Town girls:  they have discounts on all their DP, so pay them a visit soon ;). It's amazing what inspiration a new piece of paper can give you.  Hope you like the colours of this one?  It's Lucky from Basic Grey.

The image is a WoJ stamp, Helpful Melinda.  I don't think I've used her before - ain't she cute ?  Lots of layering as you can see and I've even used my cuttlebug (hooray!).  Poor old thing was feeling very neglected in the cupboard, so I thought it was time to bring her out to play...lol    Aren't those leaves and flowers just too pretty for words?  As mentioned in a previous post, I purchase the most lovely embellies for my cards and then I shelve and forget about them.  Kendall spring-cleaned my whole crafty corner for me (ain't she just the best daughter ever?) and I now have a few "new" items to use on my cards.  Thought I would also use some lovely glitter for sparkle!!

I really hope they like this one over at WoJ. Thanks for visiting and for the lovely comments. It's always a pleasure reading them and a few new visitors too (hello to Wendy's sister).  Hope you've all enjoyed your weekend and looking forward to the working week ahead.  Take care, hugs Sharon x

Totally Gorjuss Challenge

Hope you're all having a lovely Sunday... I started my cooking early and then Kendall took over so that I could quickly make this little number for the Totally Gorjuss challenge, which requires you to make something with Hearts on it.  Here is my interpretation  for your viewing...
I have used Goth Gorjuss Girl which I coloured in a week or so ago. The base of my card is a shimmery silver. I matted new Autumn Red card and lovely heart DP onto that.  I purchased a new Fiskars scissors yesterday and cut some white card to give a border. Rest of embellies are silver brads in each corner, a suitable sentiment and don't you just love the big fabric heart onto which I have placed GG?  I think I have enough hearts on this card, don't you think?

I'm off to have lunch and will catch up with you again later.  If you feel like leaving a comment, I'd love to read them.  Hugs Sharon

Just for Fun!

When last did you just make a simple card for the fun of it ? It seems that we're all so busy entering challenges and trying to keep up with what's going on in Blogland (at least I am), that one rarely has the time just to post a card you've made for the fun of it!  Well, as mentioned in my previous post, I'm lovin' Bella and so I coloured this stamped image of her and here she is... this time it's **PartyGirlaBella**.  Ain't she just too cute?

I used a plain green cardstock for the base of my card. Onto that I matted lovely DP by Stacey Boyd. Image coloured in with Copics. Added some sprinkle glue onto the balloons. The only embellies are 2 hearts cut with my heart cutter and 4 purple rhinestones. The sentiment was stamped onto the image.

I'm not sure if she's everyone's cuppa tea, but I'm really enjoying playing with her.... Almost midnight for me, so I'm going to pack up now and head for bed.  Chat again soon, hugs Sharon x

[Edit] I've just done a quick bloghop before heading off for bed and discovered that the lovely Catherine has given me an Award. Thanks so much my friend, this is so sweet of you.

Colour Create Challenge here comes Bella!

I have had these images of Bella from Stamping Bella for a while now and have only just started to colour them in and I must admit... I am lovin' Bella!!!!!  She is a delight to colour and just seems to come to life on a card.  I hope you feel the same when you see my little entry for Colour Create's challenge this week.  All they're asking is that you use Pastel colours on your card.  So... here's Content-to-be-a-Bella for the first time on Sharon's Kardz Korner.... tra-la!!

I used a plain shimmer cardstock for the base of my card. Matted pink onto that and then my lovely pastel coloured DP which is from FabScraps, a South African company. The name of the paper had been cut off ages ago, sorry ;)  Bella was coloured in with Copics and I inked around her with Versa Magic Chalk, Pink Petunia. I just love that colour. Embellished with a thin satin ribbon and buttons (which I rarely use) and some rhinestones.  Hope they like my card at Colour Create and hope you do too.

Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it and hope you'll post a comment before you leave... hugs Sharon

Challenges for the Weekend

Good evening folks... here's wishing you all a super weekend.  We finally have cool weather in Cape Town and I was freezing my butt off today, so Autumn is definitely on its way. We usually start unpacking the cardigans after the Easter weekend and start wearing closed shoes.  Whilst the rest of you are looking forward to Spring and Summer, we'll be posting pics of the storms which are still to come our way!

As most of you who follow me know, I work fulltime, so my crafting time is limited to evenings only (and sometimes after a hard day's work, it's the last thing one feels like doing... the mind wants to, but somehow the body just doesn't want to comply). So... I have quite a bit of catching up to do.  Made 2 cards this evening but can only post this one, as the other challenge was for last week (silly me!).  Here's my little number for the Cute Card Thursday challenge, which asks for Dimensions and the Paper Take Weekly challenge which provided the sketch.

The image was stamped for me by a fellow South African. I think it may be a Penny Black, maybe someone can just confirm. I have a whole page of them, so you'll be seeing them on a few of my new cards. Coloured in with copics and added some glitter seeing that she looks as if she's about to hit the night spot!!!  The base of my card is bazzill and the DP with hearts comes from Paola's shop, the other is a double sided paper from the valentine paper range.  The lovely heart buttons were sent to me by Jacque in the USA - I love them and am using them sparingly!  The sentiment is a stamp from my collection.  The pearls are from Charmaine's shop in De La Rey.  She just got them in yesterday and I went to purchase some last night.

I really like this little card, it makes me smile.  I hope it does the same for you and look forward to reading your comments, should you wish to leave one... happy crafting, hugs Sharon

Anything Goes at Cute Daisy May

My last card for today is a card which I can enter into the Anything Goes challenge at Cute Daisy May challenge blog.  Pop around and pay them a visit. It's my first time and I think I'll add them to my challenge list.

My stamp is Willow holding a Basket. Coloured her in with my copics in soft brown and pink. If the oval shaped nestie looks a bit skew, it probably is as I cut it out by hand.  Pasted that onto a rectangle scalloped nestie kindly cut for me by Paola. The DP and pearls come from Paola's shop. I have finally decided to use my corner punch, which I forgot I had!!!!  Ever had that problem???  I am keeping this one on TOP of my desk, not inside...lol

A peek at the inside

Hope you like my little creation as much as I enjoyed making it.  Happy crafting... hugs Sharon

Totally Gorjuss Challenge

Good Morning All... got up early this morning to listen to Uncle Angus on e-tv and then I put my meat in the oven ... hmmm wish I could share the tantalising aroma with you, but you'll just have to take my word for it, that our place smells so good!!!  Had a quick cuppa coffee after that and some kitka bread and then I got stuck in and made a few cards.

Totally Gorjuss just want you to use a Ribbon on your card and here is my entry for their challenge this week.
I had to call my friend Paola in Johannesburg after I made this card as I've run out of this design paper.  Isn't it gorgeous?  I just love the bright colours.  All embellies are from Paola's shop, even the sentiment.  Like my fellow SA blog buddy Wendy, I'm also hoping that Random Org zooms in on my number sometime... lol   If you like my card, I'd love to read your kind comment.

Here's a peek at the inside of this card

Wishing you all a blessed Sunday and happy crafting.  Tons of hugs, Sharon

Magnolia & Annabelle Sketch Challenges

Hello again... the mojo is well and truly back, I think... hooray!  Here's my card for the Magnolia Challenge this week. All they ask is that you make an Easel Card.  How about visiting their blog and joining in the fun!   I decided to combine this with the Annabelle Sketch Challenge, they want you to make a card with the colour combo of Blue & Green. Here's my interpretation thereof.

The light was quite bright, I'm disappointed that you can't read the sentiment, but it says How Beautiful a Day when Kindness touches it.  I've used Valentine Tilda for this card, her first time on display...lol   Coloured her in with Copics. The floral DP is from Karen Foster and the striped DP is from Upikit.  Embellies from my current stash.

Hope you like this one.  Thanks for the lovely comments, I so enjoy reading them. Happy Sunday everyone.  Hugs Sharon

2 Challenges in 1

Hello friends, hope you're all having a nice Saturday? I've been blog hopping and notice that our friends in the northern hemisphere are still experiencing cold weather, with today being especially cold and rainy!  Well, while Spring is still to show it's face, we've had a rather pleasant Autumn day in South Africa.  It started off cloudy this morning and then around 13h00 the sun came out and it's been rather nice ever since.

Have you popped around to the Whiff of Joy challenge blog?   Their challenge is for you to make an Easel Card and seeing that this is a rather new experience for me, I just had to take part and here is my little creation for you to enjoy.  I am also entering this into the Paper Take Weekly challenge, as I have used the colours Lilac & Lemon, which is what they've called for.

I chose this lovely DP from KaiserCraft first and then my beautiful Shopping Willow.  As you can see I chose my copics with care to blend in with my DP and am very happy with the result. I've used both sides of this paper, isn't the lilac, green and pale lemon just too lovely?  I used a stick on sentiment which I've had in my stash.  It just seemed appropriate to use for this card today... as we girls know that Shopping Is Lots Of FUN!  The rhinestones, flowers and ribbon I purchased from Paola (see her details under Where I Like To Shop).  I have a template for handbags and quickly made this one with purple card to make this card more fun!  I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Your comments are always appreciated, so if you feel like leaving one, that would be great! Tons of hugs to you all, Sharon x

No Card today - just sharing...

Hi Everyone... no card today (or for a while it seems...lol) as my mojo has gone on a walkabout again!   I've just received the most lovely surprise from a very dear and old friend of mine... ta-raaaaa

And all because I've been kind and helpful, etc.....   Isn't this too sweet???

Life is so short... we need to do something spontaneous like this every now and again, just to show those special people in our lives how much they mean to us.  What do you say?

Enjoy the rest of your week.  With Sunday being a public holiday in South Africa, we get Monday off, so it's a looonnng weekend for us, which means I have an extra day to catch up on some crafting.  Take care, hugs Sharon

All Sorts Challenge - Pink, Black & White

And a very good morning to you all... it's just turned 12h32 as I am typing this post.  Before I head for the land of Nod ('sleeptime' for those who don't know the expression...lol), I thought I would make one more card.  I have a lovely piece of 12x12 scrapbooking paper from KaiserCraft called Blushed in my stash and it fitted the challenge over at All Sorts perfectly.  Instead of using my girly images, I thought I would keep it plain and simple and stamp a sentiment instead.

The only other embellishments I've used is pink and white ribbon, some bling and pink and white roses - all from Paola's.  The base of my card is white.  The DP was matted onto black cardstock, which was matted onto the white card.

Hope you like this quick and simple creation.  All comments are most welcome.  Enjoy your Sunday, blessings Sharon

Totally Gorjuss Challenge - Something Sweet!

I have had this little Tilda in my drawer for ages now.  She's been dying to come out to play...  As it's Saturday, I thought I'd pop down to our local CNA to see if there were any overseas craft magazines in stock to read.  I bought the Cardmaking and the Papercraft magazines and inside the Papercraft magazine there was some lovely free paper which seemed perfect for the Totally Gorjuss challenge this week.   All they require is that you make something Sweet.  So... out came little Tilda and this is what I created for the challenge.

I made an easel card again and used Papercraft's lovely sweet designer paper for the bottom section of the card. I had a 'you're so sweet' sentiment and stamped that onto a small nestie. Further embellished with another star shaped nestie onto which I placed little Tilda by using some sticky foam tape.  I made a little Lollipop to place in her hand and raised that to give depth too.  To complete, just added some ribbon, a rose and pearls.

Thanks so much for visiting, enjoy the rest of your weekend.  Hugs Sharon

Mother's Day (UK) Celebration

Greetings everyone... another Teddy Stampers Challenge and this time we'd like you to make a gift or card for Mother's Day, which is being celebrated this Sunday in the UK.  Please pop over to the TS Challenge blog to view the other design team member's creations. I hope you will find inspiration to join in the FUN this week.
My Happy Mother's Day sentiment was too large for this card and as I was tooo lazy to type one out, I thought I would just use a stamp that I have in my stash... Just For You!  I used a gorgeous glimmer cream card for the base of my card, which you can unfortunately not pick up on the photo. I kept it plain and simple and have not used any DP. Instead I cuttlebugged another cream card with swiss dots and matted that onto some bronze paper.  The stamp is a digi one, coloured in with my Copics. Used some glitter for pizzazz.  Further embellies are flowers, pearls and hearts.  The pearls are from Paola's.

I hope you feel inspired to make your Mom or Mom-in-Law a card today and I look forward to catching up with you on the Teddy Stampers blog.  Take care, hugs Sharon

Whiff of Joy - Coffee and Cream

Morning dear bloggers and crafters... here's wishing you all a relaxing and peaceful Sunday.   It is still hot in Cape Town with the temperature expecting to reach 39 degrees celsius today... such a pity that I have to go out for a few things...

Whiff of Joy as you all know has a challenge this week and the challenge is a colour combo of Coffee and Cream. Here's my interpretation thereof...

The base of my card is a dark chocolate by AC. I then matted a gorgeous cream cardstock onto that and found this lovely light coffee and cream DP amongst my new stash that I had purchased from the CNA.  I then took a combo of dark chocolate, coffee and cream from my ribbon stash to decorate the left side of my card. Used matching coloured roses, aren't they lovely???  For this card I just had to use the lovely Willow with Hot Chocolate. Stamped her onto a nestie and coloured in with my copics. I then used Tim Holtz distress ink Vintage photo to colour around Willow.  Final bit of embellies are brown pearls from Paola

Katharina of Whiff of Joy will be visiting each blog to select the winner!  And here is the PRIZE.

I just love that Willow in her checked dress and apron - she's on my Wish List  of Just Gotta Have...lol!

Whatever you're doing today, I hope you're having FUN or getting ready for the week that lies ahead!  Take care, hugs Sharon

All Sorts Challenge - Just for Men

Good afternoon friends, I hope you are all enjoying your Saturday afternoon... it's early evening here in Cape Town and I've been making cards the whole afternoon... catching up with my Teddy Stampers challenge cards for March and April.  Watch this space!

When I checked out the challenges for today, I thought I would try the one at All Sorts, which requires you to make a card for men!  As you know, I love my girls, and am sitting with all sorts (excuse the pun!) of lovely girlie stash, but I managed to find something to create a card for this challenge and if I may say so myself, it came out pretty good.  So, why not pop over to All Sorts and try something for the men in your life for a change. I am sure they will appreciate it...

Before I go, a huge thank you to my dear friend Catherine, who was kind enough to give me an Award.  Thank you Catherine!  I am so pleased your little Sukie (kitty) is at home and well.  I am sure she is being spoilt rotten by her human parents...lol   Take care, tons of hugs, Sharon

There are so many people in blogland who makes the sun shine brightly when they visit my blog and leave such lovely comments, so instead of restricting this to only a few, I'd like anyone who visits to take this Award and place it on their blog!  Enjoy!

Easel Card

Greetings friends... I hope you've all had a wonderful week and that you are looking forward to the weekend which is just around the corner.  I've been very busy at work and notice that I've missed a few challenges... ;)

My friend Deidre asked me to make her a card for her sister and when I suggested that I'd like to try something different, explaining what the easel card would look like, she thought it sounded nice and said I could go ahead... and here is my first Easel card I'd like to share with you... I hope you like it!

Deids and her sister are very close so I thought I'd go all out to make this card special for her. The only request was that I use turquoise and pink, which I've done.  The pink striped and swirly paper are from Paola, as well as most of my embellies and ribbon.  The turquoise flowers are from the Scrapbook Shop.  The image is a stamp which I also purchased from Paola, it's Ladybug & Friends, Hello Sunshine.  The sentiment is a stamp purchased from Charmaine's.

Well, it's been nice catching up with you again.  Take care until later... hope you're having FUN whatever you're doing.  My cousin turned 50 today, Happy Birthday dear Vincent.  Blessings, Sharon x
