Simply Magnolia (DT) - Party Theme - Balloons

Hi Everyone, thanks for popping by to see what I have created for the Simply Magnolia challenge this fortnight.  It is our last one for 2012.  Be sure to remember to come back in 2013 to see what stunning challenges we have lined up for you.

Our challenge this fortnight is...

Party Theme - using Balloons

Thank goodness I have a little Tilda with Heart Balloons, so I was able to use her for this challenge.  I bet you have one too, so come play along with us.

I have coloured Tilda with Copics and distressed the paper around the edges and inked it with Chestnut Roan from the Color Box chalk inkpad range.  The label and doily was a gift from my DT sister at SM, Sara.  Thanks honey, as you can see your gifts have come in handy.

Here's a little peek at the inside of the card, which I so enjoy decorating. Just finishes it off beautifully.

Please visit the rest of the SM DT's blogs, links can be found in the left hand side of my blog. They have created some awesome creations for your inspiration.

Our sponsor for this challenge is the Pretty Little Ribbon shop.  Do visit their store for all your crafty needs. They offer a variety of embellishments and naturally RIBBON, which is everyone's favourite crafty item.

Thanks for popping by and if you have time, please leave a comment.

Big hugs, Sharon x

Here's wishing all our Simply Magnolia friends and my own bloggy friends

Totally Gorjuss (DT) - Easy Does It

Morning bloggers

Thanks for popping by to view yet another creation which I have made for the Totally Gorjuss challenge this week.  It's a lovely one...

Easy Does It!

My niece got engaged last week and I thought I would make her this lovely C&S card, which was an inspiration from the lovely cards I see on Pinterest.  If you follow me on Pinterest, you can find Jenni Pauli's card of paulinespapier.de here, which I absolutely adore.

Here's my creation.... excuse all the pics, but I so enjoyed making this one, just gotta show it off you know...lol

And a few side views, so that you can get  a glimpse of the inside too.

And the final one taken from the top...

This was such as easy make, I really hope it will inspire you to join our challenge.  Please visit the other Gorjusettes blogs to see what they have created too (links to their blogs can be found on the left hand side of my blog).

Our sponsor this week is Craftwork Cards.  Do visit their online store for all your crafty shopping.

Thanks so much for popping by.  I'd love to hear what you think of this style of card.

Happy Birthday Mommy!

Morning friends

This is a scheduled post.  Today is my dear Mother's 76th birthday.... Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is the first official day of leave... horayyyyyy.  My Mother thinks my leave only starts on Monday.  I thought I would surprise her by arriving at the Home where she lives during her birthday tea.

A lot of my friends (bloggy ones included) and colleagues enquire how my Mom is doing, since she moved into her new home in May this year.  As I tell everyone that asks me, she is so well.  She is extremely happy in her new environment, she does not miss her home at all and tells everyone she is living the life of a Queen... So there you have it!  She has made loads of new friends and they have become our extended family now.  Kendall and I are always popping in and out, chatting with the residents.  The house mother told us to treat the Home as our second home.  Now, how sweet is that?

Here's the card I made for her which I will be taking through today, with her gift.  Hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it.  It's something different, but I am experimenting...

For this card, I have used some kraft cardstock.  Love it against the white of the fence and window frame.  The window frame and flower box are new items, so this is my first creation using them.  A purchase through Paola.

Here is a peek at the inside of the card.  From the side you can also get a nice view of the flowers in the flowerbox.

Here's another view from a different angle.  I think I'll be making quite a few of these to sell at work in the New Year... I am sure the girls will love it!

Thanks for the sweet comments you've been leaving me.  I've invested too much money in this hobby to give it up for good... I just think I need a good break and perhaps try something new for a change, like this style card for example.

Thanks so much for popping by once again, I so enjoy your visits.

C&S Birthday Card

Hello again

It is Monday and a public holiday in South Africa.  When our public holidays fall on a Sunday, we usually get the Monday off... so yay another day to spend at home.

I go on leave from Friday, 21 December for 3 weeks.. can't wait !  The next 3 days had better go quickly.  Although, I am sure going to miss the aircon at work...lol  Am melting away at my craftdesk right now.

Here's a card I made recently for a friend.  Seeing that she's received it, I can now showcase it on my blog.  I loved making this one.  The colour combo is one of my fave's, Pink and Brown and I just loved these papers.

Thanks for popping by to view my card.  If you have the time, please leave a comment, as I so enjoy reading them.

hugs Sharon x

How Lucky am I - Thank you Paola !

Hello friends

I've been such a bad blogger these past few months, but RL has just been so hectic and I've had one helluva year, as we all have I'm sure.  Frankly speaking, there have been times when I've felt like giving up this hobby, but somehow I've managed to plod along and as 2012 draws to a close, I still find myself here chatting with you all in blogland and managing to make a few cards here and there.  I've gained and lost a few followers, I suppose that is how it goes.  Always sad to see someone go, but then it's nice to welcome someone new again to my little corner of the world.

I've met some wonderful ladies through my blog and have made some firm friendships.  One of those friends is Paola Levi of Paola's Paper Haven.  Paola is extremely generous with her talents and I just HAD to share this absolutely stunning handmade gypsey caravan which she made and sent to ME !!! The amount of work and detail in Paola's creations is something to behold.  She has an amazing sense of attention to detail and if you had to see this creation in RL, you will see that the candle in the lantern in the front of the caravan, has a wick in it and it looks as if wax has run down the sides.  Unfortunately, my pictures can NOT pick this up, but I hope you'll be able to enjoy this stunning creation as much as I am enjoying being the owner thereof.

I was telling Paola via skype the other evening, that I don't think I would have been able to part with such an awesome creation.   Well, enough gushing from me.... excuse the quality of my pics, but I do not have one of those light boxes, so the usual spot where I take my pics had to do.  Hang on to your seats will you...lol.....

This is the front of the little caravan. Look at the steps and other detail.

Here's a closer pic, too much light...sorry! Can you see the wick in the candle?

Here's little Miss Tilda sitting at the back of the caravan. Note the bird in the birdcage.
See the ribbon she's used to look like curtains.

The opposite side of the caravan.

And finally, the roof of the caravan.

Thank you for sharing this with me.  Are you wowed or what?  Told you I was a lucky girl!   Thanks Paola, you know you made my day with this gift!

Enjoy the rest of your day.  It is a HELLISHLY hot one in Cape Town, I have just about melted away. In a few more minutes there will just be a puddle of water where I am sitting...lol

Simply Magnolia (DT) - A Gift Box

Greetings friends

Thanks for popping by to see what I have created for the Simply Magnolia challenge, which is held every fortnight.  Our challenge for the next 2 weeks is A Gift Box.

Here is my creation.  I hope it will inspire you to take part.   Please visit the rest of my teamies to see the awesome creations they have made...

I made this gift box from scratch.  Copied it off a box of chocolates I received and will definitely be keeping it on file, as it was so easy to make.  The Merry Christmas is one of Magnolia's sentiments. The sentiment on the tag is one which I got off Desert Diva's blog. She creates awesome freebie sentiments and I really liked this one.  Thanks Hannelie.

When I purchased this Merry Christmas sentiment I was so disappointed to see how huge it was, but it really has come in handy for this project. Just love it.  Stamped in Momento's Rich Cocoa.  Flowers and ribbon from my stash.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Tilda's Town.  You can purchase all the Magnolia stamps you want from them.

Thanks for popping by to pay me a visit. I really appreciate it.

Totally Gorjuss (DT) - For Someone Special

Thanks for popping around to see what I have created for the Totally Gorjuss challenge.  The challenge is to make something for Someone Special

I found this delightful image of Elisabeth Bell's that I had coloured ages ago and it matched my papers just perfectly.  Hope you agree?

I cut a tag from a Magnolia die and stuck the sentiment Kick Up Your Heels and Have FUN on it!

Gorgeous lace and ribbon just finish the look.  Do visit our challenge blog to view the other Gorjussettes creations.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Milk and Coffee stamps.  If you are a digi stamp lover, then this challenge is for you, as you get to choose some digi stamps from the store as your prize.

Try This Trick if you Dare - Joke for the Day

Hello friends

Am I having such a good giggle this side of the world.  My friend John just sent me this joke and I felt the need to share... hehehe.  Try it if you dare....

hugs Sharon x

A man in Scotland calls his son in London the day before
Christmas Eve and says, “I hate to ruin your day but I have to tell
you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery
is enough.”

'Dad, what are you talking about?' the son screams.

“We can't stand the sight of each other any longer” the father
says. “We're sick of each other and I'm sick of talking about this,
so you call your sister in Leeds and tell her.”

Frantically, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone.
“Like hell they're getting divorced!” she shouts, “I'll take care of
this!”

She calls Scotland immediately, and screams at her father “You
are NOT getting divorced. Don't do a single thing until I get
there. I'm calling my brother back, and we'll both be there tomorrow.
Until then, don't do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?” and hangs up.

The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife. 'Sorted!
They're coming for Christmas - and they're paying their own way.'

Simply Magnolia (DT) - Christmas Theme

Happy Sunday dear friends

Thank you for popping around to see what I have created for the Simply Magnolia challenge this fortnight.  It's a Christmas Theme... a chance for you to make another Christmas card or Tag to add to your stash!

Here is my creation.  Hope you like it?  Do pop around to visit my teamies to see what they have come up with, what a talented group of ladies they are. You will not be disappointed. Links to their blogs are in my left hand side bar!

The poinsettia is a gift from a lovely blogfriend on my other DT group.  I am thrilled with these, as I can't find them in SA.  I really need to invest in some daintier corner dies.  The pearls were a purchase from Paola, what would I do without her supply of pearls?

As you know, I love decorating the inside of my cards too and here is a peek.  I've kept it very simple, but it just finishes off one's card so nicely.

The sentiment is one of Magnolia's.  So pleased I got this one, as it is coming in real handy right now.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Scrapbooking Allsorts.  They have a wonderful supply of products and their service is excellent.

Apologies if my visits have been few and far between.  It's not on purpose... RL is just so busy right now with year end around the corner.  3 weeks before I go on leave, so lots to do and I am exhausted in the evenings, which is the only time I get to craft.  My iron is so low that I have been on a series of injections and am now on tabs to get it up again.  Weekends are just as hectic, so I am looking forward to the leave where I can recharge the batteries...lol

Big hugs to all my visitors, especially the faithful ones.   Reading your lovely comments perks me up a lot.

Totally Gorjuss (DT) - Anything goes with Glitter

Hello friends

Thanks for popping around to see what I have created for the Totally Gorjuss challenge today.  It's Anything Goes with Glitter... how awesome is that!

Here's my creation which I hope will inspire you to take part this week.  Please pop around to my teamies blogs to see what they have created too.

Thought I would steer clear of another Christmas card for today.  There's loads of glitter around the flowers on this paper and also a thread of silver glitter in the ribbon.

As you know, I love decorating the inside of the cards too and the brown with pink polka dots matches perfectly.

Our wonderful sponsor for this challenge is Joanna Sheen.  Do visit her store for all your crafty needs and remember shipping is FREE!!!

Thanks so much for popping by, I so enjoy hearing from you.
