Mo's Digital Challenge

Before I go any further... will some kind person out there please tell me how to set my font and alignment to the left so that I don't have to do this each time I type a new Post.  It is driving me crazy.....  Just email me please... thanks

As you know I entered Mo's Digital Challenge last week for the first time and thought I would do the same again this week.  Her images are so cute, the one I've used on this card is called Claire and she's a real sweetie.
The base of my card is a peppermint green, especially chosen to match the dotted DP. This paper was also my inspiration for deciding what colours to use for my image. Coloured in with copics.  The rest of my embellies were purchased from Paola and the flower in one of Paola's own creations. Ain't she a clever cookie?  The tag was cut out using my new cutter which Kendall bought me... I am so pleased with it, now I don't have to try cutting these out by hand...lol

A glimpse at the inside of my card. I used 2 different sized nesties, kindly cut by Paola as I don't have these gadgets, matted one on top of the other and this is where you write your message.

Thanks a ton for visiting and for leaving such lovely comments.  I've really enjoyed reading them. Will be blog hopping soon to pay you all a visit. Take care, sleep tight, Sharon x

Whiff of Joy Challenge #68 - A Sketch

15 minutes to go and then it's Saturday morning for us in South Africa.  What a lovely evening. For the regular followers... as you know we've been having a bit of a heatwave in Cape Town and I have my sliding window open in my room and there's a cool breeze blowing in - what bliss!!!

Whiff of Joy have a sketch for you to follow for their challenge this week. Remember, you have to use a Whiff of Joy stamp to take part.  As you know my new stamps arrived last weekend and I've been dying to stamp, colour and share Willow Shopping with you. Isn't she adorable?  These stamps were released early this month and everyone in craftland is using them, so I hope you're not too tired of her yet!
The base of my card is chocolate Bazzill.  The DP is from Kaiser Kraft - I've used both sides.  The turquoise flowers are from the Scrapbook Shop, the big rose from a craft shop at my local Mall, the paper lace from Charmaine's and the pearls and sentiment from Paola. I purchased my Whiff of Joy stamp through Paola, as well as my copics which I used to colour her in. So... for any of the SA girls reading my blog, Paola is the girl to contact for all your lovely crafty must have's... ie embellishments and overseas stamps.
I've kept the inside very simple, using Kaiser Kraft paper for the message board.  Hope you've all had a nice crafty evening.  I'll catch up with you later over the weekend.  For my overseas friends, I believe it's still cold your side of the world... wrap up warmly and enjoy the indoors - gives one a good excuse to craft!  Tons of hugs, Sharon x  p.s. oh yes, please feel free to leave a comment, I love reading them... thanks!

TGIF - 2 Challenges in 1

Greetings everyone... TGIF... here's wishing you all a fabulous weekend - wow, is it my imagination or did this week pass by quickly?  Like myself, I am sure all the Working Ladies are pleased this day has come as we can now relax and catch up with all the fabulous challenges on the go.  I thought I would start early and have managed to combine 2 challenges with this card.  I've followed the Sketch as set out by the Paper Take Weekly Challenge team and over at the  My Time To Craft Blog they asked you to use a Frame on your card.  This is my first time with the MTTC Blog, so I hope they like my little creation.

I've used the Manga Girl for the first time ever and love this little one with her cute boots. Coloured in with Copics and used my white gel pen to create highlights. The brown DP with the  big pink dots is from EK Success (bought from Paola) and the striped DP is from Making Memories (The Scrapbook Shop). Both matted onto pink card to give definition. The DP for the frame is a South African product called Cinnamon Spot by Tracy Schimper. The flowers are from my old stash and the pin with pearls is a new feature I enjoy using, bought from Paola.  The sprinkles in the corners are what I won in the Annabelle Bling Challenge Blog a while ago. They are really stunning... so I'm using them very sparingly...lol

I added some glitter glue to the flowers.  You can see it nicely from this angle. I am really pleased with this card and think I will keep it for myself to send to some special.  Thanks for visiting my little corner and I hope to see you back again soon... please leave a comment if you wish, as it always makes me happy to read them.  Will catch up with you later, Sharon

Monday Mojo Challenge

This is my entry for the Monday Mojo Challenge this week. I used their fab sketch and made this card for a friend who is attending a wedding early in March. She asked me to make her a card for the happy couple and requested something to place the money in, as this is what they are giving them as a gift.  I came up with this little number, hope you like it.
The gorgeous DP is from Upikit International.  I used Mo's Digital Stamp for the image and coloured in with Copics.  All the other embellies ie pearls, beads and rhinestones I purchased from Paola.  The sentiment is a wooden stamp purchased from Charmaine's.
As you can see I created an envelope to place the monetary gift in and wrapped ribbon around to keep it closed. [I am really not an expert in this field... as you know, I am also still learning, so be kind :)  My friend Paola gave me a link to some wonderful tutorials which I still need to visit thoroughly to learn these new techniques.]  Gives a nice presentation of having to open the gift, don't you think?  Cut the paper for the message with a nestie - gives it a nice bridal feel too.

A final pic for you to see the sparkle on the dress.  A very happy client, she was thrilled with it.  Hope you are too, all comments are welcome... thanks for popping by, hugs Sharon

Just Magnolia Challenge

Evening friends... my last challenge card for the weekend I think... thanks for all your visits and kind comments, I've really enjoyed reading them. As I work full day, I'm finding it more and more difficult to craft in the evenings, as it then becomes a long day... hence my trying to find as many challenges as I can to enter over the weekend... so apologies for all the posts today, but you'll hardly get any out of me during the week...

Just Magnolia have a fab sketch for you to follow this week, so pop along and pay them a visit.  Their DT have created some fabulous card for you to drool over and to give you inspiration.
Here is my little creation on their sketch.  I just adore this little Tilda in Striped Tights.  I coloured her in with my copics.  The base of my card is a gorgeous turquoisy blue. I matted the beautiful DP from My Minds Eye, which is double sided and I've used both.  In the centre, the white strip of paper I FINALLY got my border cutters out my cupboard and cut a border along both edges.  Kendall is alway reprimanding me for not using my border cutters.  I tend to forget that I have these gadgets (this is a menopausal problem, I think... lol).  In any event, I was quite pleased with the end result. Following the sketch I just used a ribbon, some pearls, flowers and a sentiment to complete.   The pearls I purchased from Paola.

I hope you've been having fun crafting this weekend.  I wish you all a good working week and hope to catch up again with you soon... hugs as always, Sharon

Whiff of Joy Challenge # 67

Hi friends... and a warm welcome to any new people visiting my blog.  Don't forget to sign my guestbook before you leave, so that I can return the favour.

Thanks so much to everyone who has paid me a visit and for the lovely comments you've been leaving... it really warms the heart and is most appreciated.

Well, here's my little creation for the Whiff of Joy Challenge this week.  The theme is Pearls and Swirls, which is easy enough. Don't forget to use a Whiff of Joy image though and this is my other new stamp I received yesterday.  As you've seen from all the other bloggers who have been using her, she's Willow Dressing Up.  Ain't she a cutie pie!  I've mostly seen her in a black dress, but I've decided to go with a blue and grey number. The DP I've used on this card has swirls all over it and I've highlighted 2 lots of swirls by encrusting them with rhinestones.  As you can see, a lot of pearls used on this card.   I hope it will inspire you to take part in the Whiff of Joy challenge... go check out the DT member's card for more inspiration

The pearls, stamp, rhinestones, pearlised pins and copics were all purchased from Paola's Paper Haven.  The DP is from a pad purchased from our local CNA and the base of my card purchased from The Scrapbook Shop in Durbanville. The roses were purchased from a lovely shop in the Parow Shopping Centre.

I hope you like this little card and if so, your comment would be most welcome... enjoy the rest of your Sunday.  It's back to the crafting table for me... tons of hugs and blessings, Sharon x

Colour Create Challenge # 38

Hello again... this is my final card for the day... As mentioned in a previous post, I've just received my new Whiff of Joy stamps through Paola's Paper Haven and just had to ink, stamp and colour this beautiful Dancing Willow.  She is definitely my fave at the moment.  For the local SA girls... should you want any of these stamps, Paola can get them for you, so please contact her as soon as possible.
I am entering this card in the Colour Create Challenge.  This is the picture they posted for inspiration - using the colours Red, White/Off White, Pink and Chocolate.
I think I've complied with all of the above.  Hope you enjoy viewing my Dancing Willow as much as I've enjoyed sharing her with you...

Thanks for all the regulars who visit and leave comments, most appreciated.  Take care, Sharon

My first challenge with Mo's Digital Challenges....

Wow, we're having a heatwave in Cape Town. It think it was scheduled to reach about 36 degrees celsius today and I was planning to stay indoors with the curtains closed to keep my place nice and cool, but I had to go out to collect an envelope from the Post Office... well... let me tell you, I was dripping by the time I got home... roll on AUTUMN!!!!!

I've had some digistamps of Mo's for a while now, all coloured in and waiting to be placed on a card, so I ventured over to Mo's Digital Challenge blog and the challenge for this week is 'Clean 'n Simple'... you really can't get a more simple card than the one I've come up with today...lol   It was so difficult not being able to grab some DP, cardstock for layering, some bling... etc. you catch the drift?  I really hope you like this little number I've come up with, it really is what it's supposed to be...lol
The image is Patience... I ADORE this image. I keep wondering what the poor little kitty is thinking... lol   They really look as if they could be great friends hence the plain and simple sentiment on the card.

That's it for now... there's another image waiting to be placed on a card and it's one of my NEW ones, so I'd better dash... chat again later, hugs Sharon

Stamp With Fun Challenge

A warm hello to all of you... here's my little creation for the Stamp With Fun Challenge this week.  All you need to do is use one of your cute stamps and follow this easy sketch they have provided.  I must say I am so thrilled with this card and am planning to keep it for myself to give to someone special, when the right occasion presents itself...
The lovely Gorjuss Sitting Girl is my image for this card. She was coloured in with my Copics. The base of my card is a lovely shimmery bronzy colour, can't recall where I purchased it.  The lovely DP is from My Mind's Eye called Pretty Please. Embellished with pearls, a rhinestone, ribbon, charm and pearl hatpins. All these items were purchased from Paola's Paper Haven.  Her trademark is to throw in a a freebie item or two, so you're always surprised when your packet arrives in the post.

Hope you like this little card, as much as I enjoyed making it. Now I need to check out what other challenges are on the go.... happy weekend everyone, hope you're having a wonderful crafty day... take care, Sharon

Cupcake Craft Challenge #78 - Keep It Simple

Hello... it's Wednesday and mid-week, only 2 more days after today and then it's weekend... I've been commissioned to make a birthday card for a 16 year old who loves guitars and this is what I came up with.  A very simple card with very few embellishments, if any!  It seems fitting to enter it into the Cupcake Craft Challenge this week.  Hope you like it.  I've been asked to personalise the sentiment and will add this later.
As you know, I like to decorate the inside of my cards as well and as this is a special 16th Birthday... thought I would go all the way.
The base of this card is black as I had a lovely piece of gorgeous DP with guitars all over it. Used a lot of glitter to outline the guitars to give it a bit of pizzazz!!!!  The only embellishment is a lovely guitar charm which I had in my stash.

Edit after posting
I thought I would take a pic of the completed card, with sentiment.  Reghardt's mother loves it.  Hope you do too!
Enjoy the rest of your week... we'll catch up again soon... take care, Sharon

All Sorts Challenge - 3-2-1 Recipe

Hi friends... hope you've all had a restful Sunday.  I couldn't wait to make a card with my new Ladybug and Friends stamp, Hello Sunshine, which I ordered through Paola's Paper Haven.  Aren't they just too adorable.  I made this card for my sister, whose birthday is only in May... hey, you know how the months just creep up on us... lol  I'm busy going through my calendar and making my family and friend's birthday cards now already.

Fortunately this one fitted the recipe over at the All Sorts Challenge blog which I like visiting.  Their recipe calls for you to make a card using 3 of something, 2 of something and 1 of something.  Well... I have used 3 brads, 2 hearts and 1 image on this card.

The base of my card is a gorgeous chocolate brown (I love my browns...lol) and the DP is from AC, Merrymint Liquorice.  Also gorgeous, have had it for ages and first time I am using it.  Has some glitter to it.  The image was coloured in with my Copics. I think with the additional copics purchased through Paola, the blending is working out perfectly.  To all my visitors, thanks so much for all the compliments.  It really encourages me to lift my game.  The rose is a newby from Charmaine's shop and fits my colour scheme perfectly.

Here's a little glimpse of the inside of the card.  I have yet to write my message, but as it's still early days, will do so closer to the time.

Thanks so much for visiting me once again.  Your comments mean a lot to me, so thanks for taking the time to leave them.  I wish you a super week, wherever you are and look forward to meeting up with you again soon.  Huge hugs and blessings, Sharon

Cute Card Thursday Challenge #99 - In the Name of Love

Good day friends... and a wonderful Saturday to you all.  It's been a busy morning for me but I'm home now and enjoying making a card for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge this week.  They've challenged us to make a "love" themed card. It doesn't have to be a valentines card, but does need to have a love them... here's my interpretation for you to view.
I used a light green cardstock for the base of my card and matted a deep purple onto that. The gorgeous glitter, striped heart design paper is from Upikit International and is double sided. I purchased this from our local Scrapbook shop in Durbanville. The flowers are new which I purchased today from Charmaine's shop. Aren't they just too beautiful? I popped around today just to buy a Mother's Day Stamp and came out with a packet full of goodies again.  Oh my... this hobby is going to bankrupt me ;)!!!  But... at least I am selling some cards, thanks to my faithful friends who always support me... love you girls!!!  The sentiment is acrylic and matched this card perfectly.  The image is Thinking of You, an Elisabeth Bell creation from Ladybug and Friends. She's new and I am so pleased to share her with you. She's such a dainty, elegant little doll!  The heart button is a gift from my dear friend Jacque in the USA. Aren't they just gorgeous? Miss you and hope to hear from you soon.  Thanks so much for this wonderful gift which I received today.

That's it for now... back to the craft desk for me... hope you're also having as much fun as I am.  Until later... hugs Sharon x

Teddy Stampers Challenge

Hello friends... I hope you've popped over to Teddy Stampers to find out what the challenge is for this week.   Not to worry if you haven't, you can do so now and check out the other designs from our Team Members.  I hope you will feel inspired today to take part in this super challenge.  The challenge is to make a Valentine Card and here's my little creation.  Instead of going for the usual red associated with Valentine, I chose to go with pinks and blues.  The stunning DP was my inspiration for this little creation.

Isn't this teddy just adorable?  He is a freebie digistamp from one of the Carebear websites I've found on the internet.  I coloured him in using my Copics. If you'd like him, pop me an email and I'll email him to you.

Recipe for this card
Paper:  The base of my card is a pale blue card from AC
DP:  The DP is from a South African company and is absolutely beautiful with flowers and hearts all over the place. I matted this DP onto some turquoise cardstock for depth.
Embellies: Tiny pink rhinestones and pink pearls. Finished off with a turquoise ribbon with white spots (this is unfortunately the last piece I had, will have to replace) and the heart charm. All the rhinestones, pearls, ribbon and charms are from Paola's Paper Haven.
Sentiment:  Computer generated.

I hope you will feel inspired to join us in this challenge and I look foward to visiting you to see what you have created... all comments are welcome.  Take care, hugs Sharon

Crazy 4 Challenges and Stampin for the Weekend Challenges

So nice to be with you again friends. I've been in a workshop the whole day and am absolutely bushed. I didn't think I would have the energy to make a card this evening, but after a quick nap after supper I managed to pull this little creation together for the Crazy 4 Challenges and Stampin' for the Weekend Challenges. Both are asking for a Valentine's themed card.  Why not pay them a visit and play along.  Their DT have created some stunning cards!
I absolutely adore this DP which I purchased the other day at The Scrapbook Shop in Durbanville, so I had to get some more. The base of my card is a brown bazzill cardstock. The gorgeous image which I am using for the first time is Gorjuss Girl. I coloured her in with my Copics and mounted her with foam pads onto a shimmery bronze paper. Further embellies are a lovely thin red satin ribbon, various hearts using my 2 heart cutters and the lovely rose I have had for ages in my stash!  I placed my new paper laced ribbon down the centre of my card and to finalise, made a bow and placed a pearl hat pin through it.

It really makes my day when there are comments to read... Thank you to my regular blog buddies that visit me.  To the newbies that visit, I hope you'll consider joining as a follower so that I can return the favour. And now I'm off to the land of Nod, sleep tight everyone, hugs Sharon x

Cute Card Thursday & Sketch Saturday challenges

Hi Girls... hope you're enjoying your Sunday afternoon.  There's a lot of crafting going on and I'll be blog hopping soon to say hello...

I thought I would combine 2 challenges again, as time is of the essence here, and I've used the sketch from Sketch Saturday and the theme from Cute Card Thursday which is Spots & Dots.
I've used the lovely image from Whiff of Joy, forgive me, I do not know her name. She was coloured in with my Copics a while ago and has been lying on my craft desk for about 3 weeks now. Isn't she a honey ?  The DP is new from Dream Street Papers, don't you love it. It is from 1 sheet of paper and is double sided. This design is Forever Family.

Hope you're feeling crafty this afternoon and enjoying this special time.  Thanks for those who have been visiting... I really appreciate you popping by and will be returning the favour.  Tons of hugs, as always, Sharon

Mojo Monday Challenge -124

Hello, I'm back again... what a lovely afternoon I've had... enjoyed the coffee, hope you did too and then I settled down to make another card, just in time for the Mojo Monday Challenge.  A quick and easy sketch, go check it out quickly!  This time there are prizes up for grabs, so you'd better get going... Here's my little creation, hope you like it.

I love this Lute Angel playing the mandolin. To all the professionals out there, please excuse my cutting out of this image, but my specs were playing up and I really struggled with this one. I think I should have left her and cut a square or whatever other shape around her, but then you wouldn't have been able to see the nice DP!

Base: Pale pink bazzill cardstock
DP: Upikit International - double side paper - GP4057  I've used both sides on this card as you can see
Image: Lute Angel, Stampendous coloured in with my Copics and glittered for a bit of sparkle
Embellishments: Brown and white spotted ribbon.  The hearts were cut out with my new heart cutter and I just added pearls and a rose for added effect
Sentiment: A stunning new stamp inked for the first time for this card. Just fitted perfectly inside the heart

Took the picture from a different angle so that you can see the glitter.

Another angle, so that you can see how the image was raised using spongy sticky double-sided tape (what on earth is the right word, will someone please tell me as this is a bit of a mouthful. Thank you!)  Sometimes I wonder if anyone ever reads all these Ingredients - would be nice if you could let me know when you leave a comment ;)

Thanks so much for visiting, I've really enjoyed spending the afternoon with you and reading all your comments.  I am soooo pleased that I'm not the only one who likes to spend! Celia really had me laughing at her comment and dear Sandra too.  Thanks for providing a few laughs ladies.  It's been such fun chatting with you, until next time... happy crafting!  Tons of hugs Sharon xx

Totally Gorjuss Challenge

Hi Everyone and a wonderful Saturday to you all... from viewing my Google Reader, it's great to see that we're all having a wonderful crafty day. I noticed that there's a nice sketch over on the Totally Gojuss challenge blog. Go check it out!  Here's my little creation for this week, hope you like it!

Base: Deep mauve coloured Bazzill (have I got the spelling correct now girls? ;)
DP: Lovely mauve and green double side paper from Kaiser Crafts. As per the sketch, I used the back of the DP for the centre panel which I glued lilac spotted ribbon onto.
Image: Goth girl from Gorjuss Girls, coloured with Copics. I love the image but not the skull, so I placed a bling flower to hide it!
Embellishments: Glittered paper flowers from Dazzled. Green pearls in the corner of each card.  A few rhinestones was placed over the card.
Sentiment: Computer generated.

I am feeling so guilty, spent more money on cardstock today (but the sale is still on you see, so what is a girl to do????).  The only darn thing is that the eyes start roving all over the place and before you know it... a little bit of this DP and a little bit of that lovely punch... and those flowers somehow find their way into my shopping basket... then you're at the till and almost collapsing from fright when the total amount is revealed.  But, how on earth can that be!!!  I only came in for the SALE stock ;)  How on earth did I manage to run up such an amount?  Hmmm... I really hope this sounds familiar or else I'm going to feel even worse that I do now! hahaha (not for long though).  Let me know if you have the same problem, ok?  Enough ramblings for now, I'm off to make myself a nice cup of coffee.  Why not join me?

Thanks for visiting ladies, hope you like my little card for today.  Tons of hugs and laughs... Sharon xx

Combined Challenges

Dear friends... as you know from my post earlier today, it was a very special day for me.  I was planning to make Kendall a card and thought I would combine it with 2 challenges that are on the go, firstly Whiff of Joy #65 - LOVE and secondly, Stamp Challenges - LOVE SOMETHING. This is what I created...
The base of my card brown cardstock.  I matted a light pink card onto that as I wanted the pale pink as a border for the gorgeous pink floral patterned paper. I placed a brown pearl in the corners of my card and embellished with pink silk ribbon, some roses, pearls, rhinestones and a charm - all purchased from Paola's Paper Haven.  As this is a personal card to my daughter, I wanted to write the sentiment out myself instead of typing it on the computer! The image is the gorgeous Melinda Hugging the Heart from Whiff of Joy. Coloured in with my Copics.  Both challenges have the word LOVE in it. For me there is no greater love than what a mother feels for her child. I hope you'll all give your children a HUGE hug right now or if they are not close by... pick up the phone and give them a call and tell them that you LOVE them!!! They will love you all the more for it.

A litle peek at the inside of the card, which I still need to write in.  Hope you like the embossed butterfly in the corner!

This one's for you Kendall... love Mom xxx

Thanks so much for popping by once again.  I'll be sure to visit you soon... My dad's birthday on Monday, 8th February so we'll be celebrating on Sunday.  Hope your weekend is a good one.  Happy crafting!  hugs Sharon x

Proud Moment for Me!

Happy Friday everyone and here's wishing you all a super crafty weekend.  I thought I would share this event with you all... my daughter Kendall was admitted as an Attorney in the Cape Town High Court today.  Here are some pics of the proud moment!

Kendall and I outside the High Court before the Ceremony

Kendall and Advocate Brendan Atkins, who assisted her with her Admission

It's been a long 6 years since she completed her schooling - 4 years studying for her Law degree at Stellenbosch University and then her 2 years as an Articled Clerk.  A very very proud moment for me.  Am pleased to have shared it with you all.  Hugs Sharon x

Recipe Book Gift Idea

Hello friends... happy Thursday, YAY!  It is almost weekend again.  Whilst chatting to my friend last night, I was telling her about this gift I had made for my other friend Deidré for Christmas and she said that I need to post a pic on my blog...  so here it is... a very simple gift idea for you to make for someone who loves baking, cooking, etc.

  • All I did was purchase a red spiral-bound book and covered it with red and white checked paper which was downloaded from the internet.
  • For the blackboard, I covered a frame with brown paper and placed a piece of black cardstock behind it for the actual "board". I wrote on it with a white gel pen.
  • From the Magnolia Yummy for your Tummy range, I coloured the lovely Edwin and Tilda with my Copics and using sticky foam tape mounted them onto the blackboard.  The other little pics I cut out from wrapping paper, matted onto a thicker board and using same foam sticky tape, mounted them all over the book.
  • I then took one of those plastic white spoons you get when you buy yoghurt and coloured that in red with my Copic pen
  • A bow, "hand made" charm and computer generated sentiment was added for completion
That's it!  A simple, yet very effective gift idea.  Deidré loved it!   Hope you like this one... I'd be interested to read your comments... take care, hugs Sharon

Annabelle Stamps Sketch Challenge # 012

Hello friends, hope you all had a good Tuesday?  I've spent a quiet evening making a card for the Annabelle Stamps Challenge, which I so enjoy taking part in.  All you have to do is follow their sketch and add lots of bling. This card is special, as I am using one of the Annabelle stamps. Isn't she a cutie?  She is so dainty.  Please visit their blog as their DT members have produced some amazing creations.
I've used a pale grey cardstock for the base of my card. The DP from CNA is a pale blue with a pale grey embossed swirl. As I used lilacs and blues to colour my image, which I matted onto a navy blue nestie, I incorporated these colours into the card as well. Finished off by adding this gorgeous broad ribbon, some bling and ending off with a lilac spotted bow with blue flower.

Hope you like this one?  All comments are welcomed... thanks for popping by.  Tons of hugs Sharon
