Totally Gorjuss (DT) - Sweet and Simple

Oh wow... what a busy work week this has been.  Soooo happy that it is weekend.  Welcome friends to another challenge on the Totally Gorjuss blog.  Do we have a lovely one for you ?  It's Sweet and Simple this week and our awesome sponsors are Lily of the Valley... woohoooo!  I just know that you'll all be joining in this one.  A very warm welcome too to some new faces on my Blog, thanks so much for joining.

Here's my little creation, using a Lily of the Valley stamp of course.  I hope it inspires you to come join in the fun.
Please visit the rest of the DT to see what they have come up with.   Here's another view of the card I made.  Coloured with copics and chalks this time.  The patterned paper is my last bit from the 12x12 Echo Paper range, Dots & Stripes.  I have used the stripes for the inside of my card.  Will have to visit The Scrapbook shop in Bellville soon.

I just adore this little stamp.  Poor ol' Ted.... I wonder how many mouthfuls of medicine he's had already...LOL

It's bitterly cold in Cape Town as we're in the throws of Winter, with the worst weather still to come in July and August.  1st September marks our first day of Spring, but that's still a long way off, as October can still be pretty cold, only warming up in November.

Wishing you all a fabulous day.  Take care and for the local girls, hope you're wrapped up warmly this weekend.  My friend in Johannesburg says it feels like she's in Siberia... yikes, now that's COLD, and she still took her kiddies ice-skating on Wednesday !!!

Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment, I so enjoy reading them.

Totally Gorjuss (DT) - Something Yellow

Hello friends and a very warm welcome to our challenge at Totally Gorjuss.  How about something nice and bright to cheer you up ?   Whilst we are experiencing cold, wet, winter weather in South Africa, alot of you in the southern hemisphere are enjoying the summer weather (or should that read supposed to be...lol).  It' Something Yellow this week, so get our those lovely summery paper pads and let's see what you can come up with.

Do visit my DT sister's blogs to see what they have produced this week. I am sure you will be totally inspired by them.  Here's my little creation.

I've decided to go for a kraft card this week, as I am so enjoying the beautiful kraft creations my friend Catherine is making.  I am also following Pops Cards, do pay her a visit too.  Both ladies produce the most amazing work.

Our wonderful sponsor of this gorgeous digi image is Meljen's Designs.  Her designs are fabulous. Do pay her a visit will you.

Thanks so much for popping by.  Enjoy your Saturday.

Craft Idea from Pinterest

Hello friends.... whilst browsing Pinterest (it is additive I tell you...lol), I came across this little pic on someone's Board.  I repinned it onto mine under Craft Ideas and couldn't wait to try it out.

I am happy to report that it works!  I created the most perfect little bows this morning and am so thrilled about it, that I wanted to share it with you all.

So simple to make... I took some soft cardboard and cut it into the shape above.  I would think that if you want a bigger bow then the card must just be cut wider with your left and right side being of equal width.  I wrapped my ribbon as instructed above, tied a cord around it in the middle and secured at the back. Voila!  A perfect little bow.

Here is my successful attempt.

The nice thing about this is that it is a flattish bow (without the bubble in the centre, if you'd made it the conventional way), this makes it easier to add a flat backed pearl or flower in the centre.  Hope this makes sense.

Have fun trying it out !

Prisma Pencil Colouring Tutorial

Hello friends

Seems as if I am a late developer...lol   I joined Pinterest about a week ago and am amazed at the wealth of information one can find there, not to mention the beautiful decorating features and craft studios... Oh my gosh, if you haven't joined, you are missing out big time!!!

I found a video tutorial on another Pinterest Sister's board and thought I would share it with you all. I loved colouring with my pencil crayons when I was young and viewing this tutorial (scroll down to bottom of webpage to find it) has inspired me to go look for them in my craft cupboard.  I KNOW they are somewhere, but now just to find them...lol    Hopefully you'll be inspired to go find yours after viewing this awesome tutorial by Shari Carroll on the Hero Arts website.  No spirits required, just your pencils and a bit of pressure for those dark and light areas.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

New Projects to Share...

Hello everyone... I'm busy skype-ing with my friend Paola, she's in Johannesburg and I'm in Cape Town and we both look like eskimo women... me in my red fleecy top and she in her navy one... WHOA, but is is freezing here... As mentioned in a previous post, winter has well and truly set in. It was actually a beautiful day today, but at 4pm in the afternoon the temperatures dip dramatically and the cold sets in for the evening.

Enough of the weather... After a busy morning and visiting my Mom, I managed to get some crafting done. My friend Susan loved her altered Notebook so much that she ordered one for her sister-in-law who will be going overseas on holiday soon. She also requested one of my MFN (magnetic fridge notelets).  Thought I would share them with you all!

The sentiment is my own computer-generated creation and is Afrikaans for My Notes.  The luggage tag has been stamped with a gorgeous postage stamp from Kaiserkraft.  The stunning polka dot flower is from my friend Hazel... thanks honey! and the rest of my embellishments are from my stash.

Here's another view so that you can see the dimension and all the different textures.  The butterflies have been raised and glittered.  I used Tilda on the Loose, seeing that the recipient will soon be embarking on an overseas holiday.

The pink lily flowers are newbies from Wild Orchid Crafts - my first, but definitely not my last purchase from them. On the right are some pearl brads which I ordered from as well. Have still to use these.

Here is the magnetic shopping notelet (MSN) that you can place on your fridge door to write down those important grocery items you need to replace in your cupboard.

I've used this gorgeous older Tilda with Striped Apron and placed her on a rolling pin.

As I have no idea how to do these circular sentiments, Hannelie (Desert Diva) kindly made this one for me.  Thanks Hannelie!

Thanks so much for popping by for a visit.  Please do leave a message as I so enjoy reading them. Would love to hear what you think of my little creations.

Kendall has just brought me a steaming warm cuppacino.   Sending you lots of warm hugs this evening, Sharon x

Totally Gorjuss (DT) - Sunshine

Firstly, a very warm welcome to Sue who has become my 350th follower... woohoo, how awesome is that!  Always nice meeting new people. So pleased you've joined our little group Sue, thank you!

Winter has well and truly arrived in Cape Town.  I tell you, it's kinda difficult trying to think of beautiful sunshine and warm, sandy beaches when it's freezing cold and stormy outside.  Our challenge at Totally Gorjuss this week is - SUNSHINE.  I went for bright and bold colours and have given the stamps a bit of a rest.  Thought it would be nice to use a sentiment for a change.

My gorgeous paper is from  the Bazzill Basics Paper range called AVALON.  I love these colours. 24 sheets of double-sided 6x6 papers....yummy!

The beautiful lace was a gift from one of my dear blogfriends... thanks so much honey. I just LOVE this lace right now and am going to be using it sparingly! LOL  The other embellies are the MS Butterfly and a feather for a change. I added a few pearls which are sticky ones I found in one of our local stores.

Our sponsor this week is Crafter's Companion - they have amazing products in their store, so do pay them a visit.

Please visit the rest of the TGDT teams blogs.  They have some wonderful creations for your inspiration.  You can find links to their blogs in my sidebar.

Thanks so much for popping by and wherever you are, I hope it's warmer than where I am....brrrrr!

hmmmm...methinks another pair of boots are calling my name (do NOT fall off your chair Sandra!!!).  Sorry everyone, this is just a little joke between my dear friend Sandra and I. I am going through one of those phases right now and have about 8 pairs already. Another pair won't do me any harm now will it! LOL  It was so nice skype-ing with you last night dear ;)

Thanks for popping by. Enjoy your weekend.

big hugs Sharon x

More altered Notebooks to share

Hello friends

Kendall asked me to make 4 Notebooks for her which she'd like to give to some friends.  I only managed to alter 2 yesterday and thought I would share these with you.  For those visiting for the first time, these are just simple shorthand notebooks that have been altered.

The image is one of Magnolia's, Tilda in Summer Rain.  Some of the embellies used on this book are gifts from friends... thanks Amelia.  The rest are from my stash.

A completely different colour them this time - peach, blue and brown.  Another gorgeous Tilda has been used, Water Can Tilda. She's been coloured with Copics.  Ribbon and other embellies from my stash.

Thanks so much for popping by. All visits and comments are most welcome.

Simply Magnolia (DT) - Fancy Folds & Friendship

Hello and Welcome

At Simply Magnolia we have a stunning new creation for you... Tracey would like us to make a card with more than 1 Fold and to include a Friendship theme too.

Well, this one was easy enough for me to do as I have a whole lot of beautiful pre-scored folded cards from Which Craft in the UK and a stunning supply of friendship stamps.  My Recipe for Friendship sentiment was a purchase from Dies To Die For and is a Bildmalarna stamp.  Here's my little number... I hope it will inspire you to join in the FUN this fortnight!

The papers are from my brand new 12x12 Martha Stewart pad, purchased from Scrap-a-Doodles in Pretoria.

Our sponsor this fortnight is from Creative Treasures in the UK.  I have purchased from them before. I usually buy all my cherry blossoms from them. Excellent service!

Thanks for popping by and I hope you'll visit the other SMDT ladies to see what awesome creations they have created for your inspiration.
