Happy Saturday everyone... I am sitting with a sick child at the moment. I've just made her a lovely pot of vegetable and bacon soup, as I believe this is real comfort food when you are feeling ill. It doesn't matter how old your children are, when they're sick, it really hurts you as a parent... am sure you're all agree.
Well, whilst Kendall was sleeping her cold off, I inked and stamped some new stamps which arrived yesterday from Funky Kits. They are Sugar Nellies and it took a week to get here, which is remarkable. My first purchase with FK and I'll be sure to use them again. Just love these sweeties.
This is going to be a lengthy post, as I have taken some pics during the different stages of colouring for a dear young friend of mine. Kim and I were chatting on the phone yesterday whilst I was on my way home and she was complimenting me on my blog and cards and during the conversation I mentioned that the images are stamps and that I colour them in. Well... she was shocked and amazed (as she thought I had bought them coloured in already) and was then full of admiration... bless her sweet heart... so I thought I would show her what the stamps look like and then take pics of the different stages of colouring, as I believe a picture paints a thousand words.
Kim is not a crafter, so I am asking the "experts" out there not to look too critically at my colouring skills...LOL OK, here goes... this is for Kim...
Kimmy, these are the stamps I was talking about. They are rubber and you ink them with black ink and then stamp them onto very special paper. Once I've stamped my images, I leave them for a few minutes or overnight to dry before I start my colouring process. In this case, I stamped them last night and coloured them in this afternoon with special pens called Copics...
I always start colouring the skin, which you can see in the pic above...
In this instance, I then started to colour the fence, using a base colour first
I then used a darker shade and blended to fill in all the white bits
I then decided to colour her outfit in pink, using lighter and darker pens to colour and blend... hope this is making sense honey!
As you can see this little sweetie is almost full coloured in...
And here is the final coloured image, ready for me to place on a card... The shape you see is what we crafty people call a "nestie". They come in all shape and sizes and just enhance your image. That's it!
Well, I was having such fun, I thought I would do another one for you, using the same image but with different colours this time, hope you like it...
There you go, I hope you've enjoyed seeing how I go about colouring in my images... it may look like a lot of work to you, but I so enjoy seeing how an image comes to life in a matter of a few minutes...
